Valuation Analysis
As part of our startup consulting service, Boxconcepts Consulting performs stock option valuation analysis for early-stage startups to help them prepare for their first round of external funding, or their first wave of new employee hires.
Boxconcepts Consulting uses several valuation methodologies to arrive at an estimate of the company value and stock option price. Based on the different methodologies used, the valuation analysis yields a range of values, from which a pricer per share recommendation is made. As the analysis is quantitative in nature and can’t take into account any intangibles that may have a significant impact on the valuation, the results of the analysis should not be taken as the final say, but rather a guide by the Company’s Board of Directors. As with any valuation analysis, the results should be used as a starting point to arrive at the eventual stock option price.
Our valuation analysis work leverages my experience developing financial models while working in product marketing / product management, and as a consultant to angel investors where I conducted due diligence on numerous startups, including analyzing company market value and future prospects based on their underlying business model. I am also on the Board of Directors at The Capital Network, which runs several educational programs for entrepreneurs and early-stage investors, including option pricing and valuations.
